Intermodal husky stack well car by S&R Models N scale Special Editions railroad models limited Run

The All Purpose Husky Stack (APHS) can carry either trailers or stacked containers. The cars are available from Greenbrier as single units or drawbar connected (drawbars included with models). The S&R Models Special Run model version of the APHS is lettered for a leasing company with the 'Southwind' logo. The model is produced by Con-Cor and is the ONLY well car model available that can carry trailers or containers. According to Mr. R. Yates of the Greenbrier Companies, the origin of the term 'Southwind' is that 'Southwind' was the developmental product name for the APHS prior to product introduction to the industry. The reason Greenbrier used the term 'Southwind' is that they worked very closely with the Norfolk Southern during product development. The 'Southwind' cars are the first prooduction run of the APHS and were leased to the Norfolk Southern. Click HERE for more information on the APHS prototype. S&R's model version is available in 2-packs. A total of four road numbers are available. A great way to carry our Special Run Trailers and containers.

The Model is as versatile as the prototype. You can load trailers of all sizes into it or load containers- single or double stacked. The lower position in the well will accommodate containers up to 48 feet in length. the longer 53' container would be loaded in the upper (top) position.

Below I have taken an eraser and removed the southwind logo, while retaining all the data information. Add weight to the bottom container for better tracking of the car. Some modelers have reported that a piece of glass in the well provides for better operation when the car is empty.
